The session
Most of us have heard of Facebook. It is a powerful tool for connecting people. Ning is a similar social sofsoftware tool that helps us build commuity online.
Ning is an online platform for users to create their own social websites and social networks. It is used very successfully in VET to support networks of teachers and educators intersted in particular topics. Accordig to wikipedia, "Ning hopes to compete with large social sites like MySpace and Facebook, by appealing to users who want to create networks around specific interests or have limited technical skills.[6] The unique feature of Ning is that anyone can create their own custom social network for a particular topic or need, catering to specific audiences.
In this session Howard Errey, coordinator of the Framework's E-learning Innovations program in Victoria, will outline how he and other VET educators are using Ning. He will demonstrate its functionality and discuss possible uses. The session will also introduce the ACFE ning space at: http://acenetwork.ning.com/ and invite you to become a member of our very own Ning blended learning network.
