Gippsland 09

The 2009 induction session occurred on Wednesday 17th June at Lakes Entrance.

Far East Gippsland

This years project has evolved from the 2008 e-mentor project. Eight Neighbourhood Houses in Far East Gippsland will be using Elluminate Live for network meetings throughout the year as well as 2 or 3 Houses identifying key teaching staff to run some teaching sessions via Elluminate. Safe Food Handling and Governance training are 2 possible courses identified at the induction session. It is hoped that this years project will bring together previous Access ACE and e-mentor projects and help move the Far East providers a little further along their e-learning journey.

Lack of local tutors, very small populations and hard economic conditions are constant challenges for small rural providers everywhere - none more so than Far East Gippsland. E-learning has the capacity to significantly enhance the educational opportunity able to be offered in small, remote communities.

The 8 Far East Gippsland Neighbourhood Houses are located at:
  • Benambra
  • Bendoc
  • Buchan
  • Lakes Entrance
  • Mallacoota
  • Orbost
  • Paynesville
  • Swifts Creek

There are non-ACFE Neighbourhood Houses at Loch Sport, Bemm River and Cann River who will also be benefitting from this project.

Glenda McPherson is the 2009 e-mentor and is greatly looking forward to this years project.
