Every year over 100,000 Victorians choose to learn through more than 350 Learn Local organisations and neighbourhood houses around the state.
Our TV series "a house around the corner" showcases the incredible range of educational programs and community activities available. "a house around the corner" is a 13 week series on Channel 31/Digital 44.
Series one presented us with the diversity of activities run through a variety of community houses. The community houses were in metropolitan and rural settings but all very focussed on the needs of their particular communities.
Series two will focus on the stories of individuals and their journeys from their first introduction to a community house through volunteering, short courses or other house activities. Many have gone on to increase their skills through further training within the supportive community house environment or onto further education in other institutions with the view to future employment opportunities.
The show is supported and funded by the Adult Community and Further Education Board and auspiced by Eastern Regional Access TV and created by the Coonara Community House in Upper Ferntree Gully and TMZ TV.
Join the CCH Media Team and host Tricia Ziemer each week as they travel around the state exploring Learn Local organisations and neighbourhood houses offering a wide variety of education and training, fitness and wellbeing classes, singing, gardening, cooking and so much more, all just around the corner.
